We are looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of students into our outstanding Sixth Form in September 2025.

If you have specific questions that you would like to have answered then please email year11transition@cockermouthschool.org and you can be assured of a prompt response.

#WhereStudentsExcel

These pages will provide you with much of the information that you will need to know before joining our Sixth Form at Cockermouth School.

Students who are joining us for our Induction Days will receive a personalised transition document, where we will ask you to confirm your subject choices, to inform us of a student that you would like to be in a form with and to commit to the expectations outlined in the information provided.

External candidates will also receive a copy of our Data Collection Forms that we will require to be completed ahead of joining us in September. If any current Cockermouth School students would like to update their information, copies will be available on request.

A copy of these forms is also available here which you can complete and send to us ahead of the induction days, but please ensure you complete and return by Monday 23 June 2025 either by:

  • Completing electronically, saving to your own device and emailing to dataoffice@cockermouthschool.org (we advise password-protecting first)
  • Printing and posting the completed forms to Data Assistant, Cockermouth School, Castlegate Drive, Cockermouth CA13 9HF

If you are unable to use either of these methods, we will ask you to complete a physical copy on Tuesday 24 June 2025.

Induction Days

We are excited to welcome Year 11 students back into Cockermouth School on Monday 23 June and Tuesday 24 June for our Induction Days.

Students will have the opportunity to visit departments and experience lessons, discuss subject choices, find out more about life in the Sixth Form and meet other students who are also hoping to join our outstanding Sixth Form.

If you have any questions about this event please email year11transition@cockermouthschool.org

Bridging Work

To prepare for September, all prospective Sixth Form students should complete the Bridging Work available on Firefly. These subject-specific resources will help ease the transition from GCSE to A level. Students must also complete the Sixth Form questionnaire and read the enrichment page.

Transport

Parents of students within catchment, who have received a conditional offer for our Sixth Form, will receive an email from our finance department asking if their child requires a place on a school bus.

If you haven’t received this email, or if you are yet to respond to the email please could we ask that you contact school and ask to speak to our finance office or alternatively email rennieh@cockermouthschool.org.

Students who live outside of the catchment area should contact transport providers directly to check the availability of bus places for September. The list of transport providers is available here.
