We are delighted to celebrate the success of a group of our Sixth Form students who have excelled by reaching the Senior Maths Kangaroo.  This is a 60 minute, 20 question “integer answer” challenge.

Entry to the challenge is based on a qualifying Senior Mathematical Challenge score.  To progress students were required to achieve a Gold award in the initial round, meaning they needed to score at least 72 out of a 100 on a range of complex mathematical problems.

Around six million young people take Kangaroo competitions each year.  The name Kangaroo acknowledges the contribution made by Australia to establishing large-scale mathematics contests.

The students who progressed to this stage were Jonathan J, Alfie F, Rebecca N, Sean L and Tom T.  The students all gave an excellent account of themselves, with Jonathon J (Year 13) achieving the “Best in School” award, collecting a Gold Certificate from the Kangaroo round.  The Year 12 students all achieved Bronze or Qualification certifications at the Kangaroo level.

Well done to all those who performed admirably throughout the competition.
