We were delighted to welcome so many families from across our local community to our Year 6 Open Evening. The event was a wonderful opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore our school, meet our dedicated staff and students and experience the energy and enthusiasm that make Cockermouth School such a special place to learn.

Throughout the evening, our visitors were treated to an exciting range of activities and demonstrations; from rocket launches and maths puzzles to a lively samba band, thermo-imaging displays and dramatic scenes from Oliver Twist. Each department showcased the creativity, curiosity, and commitment that define our learning community, offering a real sense of what possibilities there are for our students.

The Open Evening was a huge success and a true testament to the hard work and commitment our students and staff bring to school every single day.

In addition to the main event, we were pleased to offer Open Mornings for families who wanted another chance to visit. These sessions provided an opportunity to see the school in action on a normal working day; observing purposeful lessons, focused learning and the calm, productive atmosphere that underpins our success.

A huge thank you to all of the families who joined us, and to the students and staff whose enthusiasm and dedication made both the Open Evening and Open Mornings such amazing events.

We look forward to welcoming families back into our school later in the academic year for our intake process, after we receive confirmation over who will be joining us as Year 7 students in September 2026.

There are exciting times ahead!
