Cockermouth School Association
The Association was set up in 1988 to support the work of the school by encouraging links between home, school and community, and to organise a calendar of events of social, educational and fund-raising nature. All parents become members automatically when their children enter the secondary school, and will be kept informed of events by letters issued through the pupils in school.
Regular financial support is given through the 100 Club run by the CSA. We do encourage parents to support this group, and we look forward to meeting you at the various events. The AGM is held each Autumn and parents are elected along with staff and pupils to form the committee.
Funds are raised to provide important extras that the school budget cannot provide. Last year, for example, funds were provided for the Ghana Link, Site Management Team, After School Film Club, Design Technology Department, Press Office, After School Drama Club, Learning Support Department, Drama Department and the refurbishment of the school gym.
Your help is needed in four main areas to:
- provide refreshments at Parents’ Evenings
- join the CSA committee, which meets 5 times per year
- donate raffle prizes for events
- join the 100 Club with a donation of £12 per year
If you are able to help in anyway, please contact Joan Ellis on

We are now into our first major fundraiser of the school year - our Christmas Wine and Dine raffle will be drawn on 12th December. Students have been issued with a book of 5 tickets to take home, and if 1000 books of tickets are sold, we will have raised a stunning £5000! Your support would be gratefully received. Please read the attached letter which accompanied the raffle tickets.
The majority of the CSA fundraising comes from selling refreshments. Volunteers provide Fair Trade tea, coffee, juice and biscuits for school productions and at Parents’ Evenings. The services have extended to events in the Eco Centre and extra help lightens the load. The other major fundraiser is the 100 Club. With only 270 members, the CSA has the aim to become the 1000 Club. Please do join for a small donation of £12 per year – you get 12 chances per year to win up to £30.
Meetings are held each half term on Monday evenings at 7pm and parents are welcome to attend and take part.
